“Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can."
As part of our mission to live a life of service, Messiah United Methodist Church is committed to supporting organizations at the local, national, and international level. Some examples are listed below:
• The Steele and Linglebach Elementary Schools - Philadelphia, PA
Messiah's 2017 Christmas Challenge raised $7,153 for Cradles to Crayons in addition to many clothing items for donation to children living in poverty in the Philadelphia area. We sent a group of 21 volunteers to work in Cradles to Crayon's warehouse in Conshohocken on December 17th, sorting donations of clothing to be distributed to those in need. Thank you to all who participated in this year's Challenge through the gift of your money, goods, and time!! We will deliver the donated items and financial contribution in January, and will schedule a second volunteering trip - details to follow.
Did you know that 37% of children in Philadelphia live below the poverty line? Messiah’s 2017 Christmas Challenge supported Cradles to Crayons. The mission of this organization is to provide children living in poverty with items that they need to thrive at home, school, and play. They collect new and nearly new children’s items and distribute them in the five southeastern counties surrounding Philadelphia and Camden, New Jersey. For the past two years, Messiah has raised thousands of dollars to support two local Philadelphia elementary schools. Juniata Park Academy and Cayuga Elementary School are the two schools that have recieved countless supplies from our efforts. Our donations include musical instruments, books, games, gym supplies, and feminine products to name a few!
Messiah is very proud of our efforts to support the children of the Philadelphia Schools and we hope to continue this mission in the coming years!
